Mary Vandenberg

Director of Community Engagement
I am pleased to be joining the iSTEAM Academy as the Director of Marketing and Engagement. I have been leading the charge for change in secondary education since 1998 with the goal of innovating and inspiring today’s youth for tomorrow’s challenges. Deeply committed to providing innovative strategies to ensure organizational sustainability, I have had the opportunity to work for a number of for profit and nonprofit organizations. I served as Program Analyst with the Department of Defense in Europe for 10 years and then became the Director of Marketing for the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California. While at Edwards Air Force Base, I was instrumental in developing a strategic marketing strategy for excess flight test capacity. I was then given an opportunity to join Air Combat Command (ACC) in Langley, Virginia to serve in the Family Programs Office as a Command Program Analyst where I was instrumental in facilitating policy reform to support Air Force family members with programs and services during periods of deployment. Most recently, I have been working with local nonprofits to help them build program capacity by exploring and understanding the complexities involved in developing, and cultivating shared value partnerships. I assist organizations with revenue and donor development, by engaging and cultivating relationships with funders and businesses that share similar interests. I help organizations to realize the strengths of these relationships that exist at every level of an organization to both understand and utilize these relationships to increase market share. My professional experience is anchored by education. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Masters of Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Most recently, I have been attending the prestigious American Express Leadership Academy at the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Innovation and will graduate in May 2018.
